N.J. Bill Would Make Parents Take Course to Train Teen Drivers

Driver-education classes are a rite of passage for teens, but a proposed law in New Jersey may send some parents back to driving school as well.

Is that dad trained?
Recent studies show that graduated driver's licenses likely have contributed to a reduction in accidents and deaths among teens, something we talked about in a podcast a few weeks back.

But states and towns have been cutting back on driver education programs in schools, leaving a gap in formal classroom training for teens.

New Jersey might put that responsibility even more firmly on parents be requiring them to get formally trained before they train their kids.

While I support the idea of ensuring the trainers get trained, this feels a bit like a tax on parents, both in time and money.
