Question - Should Information About Drivers Be Publicly Accessible

During tonight's podcast, David and I discussed a piece from The Wall Street Journal about a car windshield that would use augmented reality to display information about the road, landmarks and even other drivers.

At one point, David said, this windshield would read the license plate or another sensor in the car and display information about the car, driver and their driving history.  This statement worried me.  What information is readily available to drivers about each other on the road?  Currently, the answer is none.  You can't read a license plate on a vehicle and instantly know about the owner and the driving history.  There are services that you could pay for (and they are not cheap) and then you would be able to track down said information but again, its not readily available and public.

So the question is, do you want other drivers to be able to access information about you while you are driving down the road without your knowledge?  And is there anyway to prevent this from happening in the near future?  We'd love to hear from you.
